Undercurrent offers a range of programs from after school programs to structured activities.

Undercurrent After School Kids Program

This program exists to offer elementary aged children a safe place to come after school to burn off some energy, make new friends, and just have fun. Every day is an adventure that includes games, crafts, science experiments, and recreation. This program happens every Thursday at 3:30 – 5:00pm.

Undercurrent Jr High RISE Program (New for 2016)

rise-designstyle-kiddo-mThis a program designed to bring out the best in Cape Breton’s youth by teaching valuable life skills. Victoria and Amanda teach cooking classes and healthy living along with other skills with our partners at Crossfit D-10 and other leaders in the community. The group also gives back by volunteering to better the youth and the future of Cape Breton. This program runs every Monday and Wednesday, and Thursday, from Oct til May.  If you, or if you know any youth who could benefit fro this program please contact us. * Space is limited for this program.

Undercurrent’s Sr High Lounge (New for 2016)

Every Thursday at 8 PM our Lounge and Games room is open for all Sr High’s to hang out, play pool, ping pong, fooseball, air hockey, games, or just hang out with friends.


  • All participants of all programs are required to have a waiver, signed by a parent or guardian. These are available at our centres, but you can also download it here.

Undercurrent Scooter Program (New for 2016)

Undercurrent Youth Centre provides safe space on a weekly basis for all youth who scooter. With a combination of rails, ramps, and boxes there is something for beginner and advance riders.

Undercurrent Skateboarding School Program

Undercurrent is hosting a skateboarding school for kids and youth aged 6 to 12. The goal is to help young people try the sport and learn basic skills. It takes place every Thursday from 6 til 7:30 PM. Helmets are required.

Undercurrent Skateboarding Night

From October til May every Thursday Night, from 8 til 9:30 PM our indoor skatepark is open to all youth and young adult skateboarders. Helmets are required. Our quaterpipes, banks ramps, rails, and boxes are all set up each skate night. During winter months we add extra days / times as this program has always been full.

Undercurrent Floor Hockey Program

Undercurrent in partnership with the Nova Scotia Community Services hosts yearly floor hockey for children in grades primary to grade six.  It takes place every Wednesday evening at the Undercurrent Youth Centre with three different divisions. Each child is put into a team and enjoys one hour of floor time with our volunteer coaches. The Program includes your very own hockey shirt, trophy, and pizza party at the end of the year!  Registration is open all year! We suggest arriving 15 minutes early for new registrations prior to your child’s floor time. Lets drop the puck!

Undercurrent Youth Zumba Program

Our Zumba Youth classes feature youth-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. This program is taking place Wednesdays, 6 – 7 PM. 10 Weeks This Fall + 20 Weeks in Winter and Spring. $2 a Week or $30 For Entire Program. Starts Oct 5th.

Along with our regular weekly program Undercurrent hosts many extra kid, youth, and family events. Our summer programs include weekly hike / adventure days across Cape Breton, sports programs, youth camps, and tons of recreation opportunities.

For ten years we have been doing humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic where we have built homes, schools, worked with orphanages, sponsored children’s programs, worked with street kids, and much more. For more information click here.
