Mighty Mustard Seeds Program (Glace Bay)


This program exists to offer elementary aged children a safe place to come after school to burn off some energy, make new friends, have a meal, do school work, and just have fun. Every day is an adventure that includes games, crafts, science experiments, and recreation. This program runs Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30 til 5:30 pm. Also, we are adding a once a month weekend event for kids and families. The cost is $25 which include up to 9 meals a month, all activities, crafts, etc.rise-designstyle-kiddo-m


Jr High RISE Program (Glace Bay)

This program is designed to bring out the best in Cape Breton’s youth by teaching valuable life skills. With a combination of speakers, discussions, life lessons, exercise, food prep, and a meal together this is a great experience for every youth involved.  This program take place every Wednesday evening in Glace Bay.


  • All participants of all programs are required to have a waiver, signed by a parent or guardian. These are available at our centres, but you can also download it here.

Recreation Programs

Undercurrent Scooter Program  (Sydney and Glace Bay)


Undercurrent Youth Centre provides safe space on a weekly basis for all youth who scooter. With a combination of rails, ramps, and boxes there is something for beginner and advance riders. $3 a week or $60 for year.


Undercurrent Skateboarding School Program (Glace Bay and Sydney)


Undercurrent is hosting a skateboarding school for kids and youth aged 6 to 12. The goal is to help young people try the sport and learn basic skills. $3 a week or $60 for year.


Undercurrent Skateboarding Nights (Glace Bay and Sydney)


From October til May our indoor skateparks are open to all youth and young adult skateboarders. Helmets are required. Our quaterpipes, banks ramps, rails, and boxes are all set up each skate night. During winter months we add extra days / times as this program has always been full. $3 a week or $60 for year.


Shred Sirens – Girls Skate Program (Glace Bay)

Shred Sirens is a group of female skaters from around Cape Breton who are empowering more ladies to find their place in the skate community. The run a weekly skate program at the Glace Bay Youth Centre on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM. The program is free as the girls fundraise to cover the cost of the program.

Undercurrent Floor Hockey Program


Undercurrent in partnership with the Nova Scotia Community Services hosts yearly floor hockey for children in grades primary to grade six.  It takes place every Wednesday evening at the Undercurrent Youth Centre. The Program includes your very own hockey shirt.  Registration is open all year! We suggest arriving 15 minutes early for new registrations prior to your child’s floor time. Lets drop the puck! This program is free and is running in Glace Bay.


Much Much More


Along with our regular weekly program Undercurrent hosts many extra kid, youth, and family events. Our summer programs include weekly hike / adventure days across Cape Breton, sports programs, youth camps, and tons of recreation opportunities.

Undercurrent Mission Trip Leadership Adventure
For ten years we have been doing humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic where we have built homes, schools, worked with orphanages, sponsored children’s programs, worked with street kids, and much more. For more information click here.
